Newest tape drawing is crane centric. Heard word in this one room at the Scope Art Festival- hosted in a meat-packing district hotel (so many personal coincidences found in this room I can't really be certain it actually existed outside of me despite Sherry's amazed corroboration- as if Sherry isn't actually just my imaginary rainbow playmate herself), that one artist (must find him) claimed origami cranes could save the world.
[For the record, the room had a girl mapping the visitors on layers of plexi in front of the window, a pile of lychee candy (Sherry the subconscious color said, no bean, but nice lady said why yes), mobius kanji corregated cardboard piece on the bed (shared my wedding ring with that artist), a girl who lives in our building, a guy who might swap art with sherry, and a pile of golden cranes in the bathroom.]
New methodologies at work here- namely a return away from tape and back to collage, lines, paint. pin-pricks, etc...(nice to be back in the girth of media orgy) and a reverse micro economy. This being a commissioned piece (er, ok, the directive was 'bridge' which loosened up to bridge of birds because loosening was just what my scene needed), I'll be putting the money earned toward imminent Sweet 101 fabrications. Will this company one day be financed on art? Dubious but funny like Sherry's art backed iMac (can we just call all apple things iMacs?). Or the time we sold the tv for drugs.
Straight Dope answers question of how birds in flight can respond so quickly and who decides where they go.
